2 allegedly killed as Oyigbo police station is attacked

A police station in Oyigbo was attacked by gunmen killing two people and destroying the station including the police cars at the station.

Unknown criminals reportedly attacked Oyigbo Police Station in Rivers State, destroying properties.

They also burnt police vehicles.

The attack reportedly took place on the eve of Nigeria’s 60th Independence Day.

Photos from the scene show the charred remains of a police van, and another battered car. 

According to the reports, the attack also caused the death of two people.

The nationwide protests by Nigerians to end the operations of officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police force has not shown any sign of waning even as it nears it's second week.
